Here are the last of my Christmas hats. If I'm smart (and a good aunt) I will start making them now for next Christmas. I have 13 nieces and nephews on the Green side. Yikes.

I lied ... one more post

I can't help myself. In honor of my husband's love for small pets, I designed a t-shirt and opened a store on Cafe Press:
My first shirt is called hammy sammy and it is a hamster sandwich. It makes me laugh. Hurray for microsoft paint. I wonder if anyone will buy one? (besides me, of course)
And I'm done until after Christmas. bye bye
the last ornaments
A few years ago, my mom gave me a set of these very pretty beaded snowflake ornaments:

Also very pretty, if I do say so myself. But by the time it was finished, I felt finished with the project. I am a little burned out with ornaments this year, but I'm sure I'll be ready for them again next year. This ornament went to a friend at church.
I also made a beaded icicle ornament which was very easy and quick. I only made one of these as well, but plan to make a bunch more for next year's tree.

This will be my last post until after the holiday. Merry Christmas!
This year I decided to try and make a few. After several failures I figured it out and came up with this:

Very kissable
Last night I made some homemade lip balm a la Martha. I am giving them away as small (very small) gifts to a few girlfriends.
The balm is surprisingly easy to make - it only took about 10 minutes. Can I just say that I love quick, cute projects? I used a lemon essential oil with a bit of honey so it smells nice, has just a touch of sweetness and it makes my lips all nice and soft. :)
My favorite part though is the packaging. I got the tins at The Container Store (love) and made little labels using part of a card-making kit my mom gave me for Christmas last year. Here is the end product:

An awesome Christmas present
This is not something I made, but my brother Scott and nephew Nile painted it for us for Christmas and I can't help bragging. Wow. I LOVE it. This is a portrait of our beloved rabbit, Buns. I think it perfectly captures the right amount of grumpiness mixed with curiosity.

I can't wait to hang it up - Nile picked the perfect colors. It will look great right over our couch. :) Thanks guys!

Done!
I finally finished the animal hats for this Christmas. Some of them were pretty tricky, but they came together in the end.

I couldn't decide on what kind of mouth to give the fish - the round one (top) looks most fish-like to me, but also a bit grumpy (or shocked?). I decided to go with a more baby-friendly smile.
A bear for Brent - look familiar? I hope he enjoys wearing it as much as I do. I get so many compliments on the street when I wear mine. :)

A pink piggie for Claire:
And the grand finale, a blue and black tiger for Nile:
I have two more hats to post after Christmas!

because I miss my brothers ...
Something for me

I love this scarf. It is so comfy and warm for the winter and I splurged on the yarn - its made out of a really nice, soft mohair. I bought it at a great yarn store very conveniently located on my block, called Knitty City. I love Knitty City. It is a dangerous store for me to enter since the yarn is so nice and most of my crochet projects are destined to be spit-up on.

for a girl...
This is my first attempt at a baby sweater. I actually tried to follow a pattern, but got a little off track and started making it up as I went along. It looks pretty cute, although I have no idea if it will actually fit a real baby. I learned a lot about patterns though, and why I am not very good at them (I have very little patience for counting stitches). Hopefully my next sweater will be better! I kind of love the hat.
